My Home

Where the heck is Venecia, Costa Rica? It's not on most maps, so I thought I'd show you.

On this map the red marker shows where I'm living. My town is called Venecia de San Carlos. I'm in the north zone of the country in the San Carlos county, and the Alejuela province. I'm about 3 hours by bus from the capital of San Jose, which sits southeast of my town right by where the map says "Pavas".

The population of the town is about 7,000 and it consists of about 7 different little communities that make up that number. The livelihood in the town is farming/ranching and even though it's a "big" town for rural Costa Rica it has a very small town feel. The town center consists of the church, the soccer field, a park, a supermarket and an ice cream shop.
