Bike Ride for Boredom

My friend Julia and I had been looking forward, if anxiously, to this weekend for a couple months. This weekend was our big 120k ride from my town to hers. She came down on the bus, with her bike, to stay the night on Friday and early Saturday we took off for her house where I spent Saturday night. We've been training for about 2 months to make sure we were ready for it, and turns out... we were! We did it! I was fun, if long, and we're already planning another bike ride during out winter break.

We called our ride the Bike Ride for Boredom 2011 because a few people asked us, "What kind of ride is it?", "How many people are there?", "Is it benefitting a cause? Like AIDS?". The answer these questions is: There are only three people. It benefits no cause. We are doing it because we think it will be fun. Since this explanation is hard for some people to understand, i.e.- 'Who on earth would ride 120k to Upala where it's hotter than blazes just for fun?!?'. Well, we would, mostly because we have a lot of time on our hands. Better than sitting around all the time, we figured, we could spend our time riding bikes. Cool, but why? So we created an event, a goal. From this was born our event:
Bike Ride for Boredom-
Serving the recreational and exercise needs of Peace Corps volunteers,
Curing boredom with every pedal stroke.

Like the bored face; it's important to have the right "attitude" when you start, so you're true to your "cause" - eradicating boredom!
