Gallo Pinto
The most Costa Rican of all Costa Rican foods. Eat it for breakfast with eggs or meat, and remember having rice and bean and having Gallo Pinto are NOT the same thing.
Cooked white rice
Cooked black beans, undrained
Add to taste:
Minced onion
Minced garlic
Minced red pepper
Minced cilantro
Lizano Sauce
Heat a little oil in a frying pan, when then pan is hot adjust stove to medium high heat and add the minced ingredients. Lightly cook these ingredients, add rice and beans. Add a liberal amount of Lizano sauce. Cook over medium-high heat until well combined and hot.
Serve with fried or scrambled eggs, sour cream and a little tabasco. YUM!
